A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE PASTOR ROBERT HEYWARD, SR., OF GRACE CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH IN ADAMS RUN ON THE OCCASION OF HIS EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HIM A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Pastor Robert Heyward of Colleton County will be honored at a celebration of his eightieth birthday on March 29, 2019; and

Whereas, born on March 13, 1939, he has witnessed many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international crises that have spanned the globe from that time into the second decade of the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, after Pastor Heyward accepted the Lord's call into ministry, he graduated from the Baptist Ministry Forum Divinity School and completed studies at the Morris Theological School Extension; and

Whereas, in 1983, he received his Certificate of Ordination and was called to pastor Salem Baptist Church on Wadmalaw Island for several years. Then he served as the pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church for more than ten years and became the pastor of Grace Chapel Baptist Church in Adams Run; and

Whereas, together with his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Richardine Garvin Heyward, he reared five fine children, and Sister Heyward has worked alongside him in the ministry, an example of godly character and leadership; and

Whereas, Mrs. Heyward is a lecturer, teacher, and prayer warrior. Pastor Heyward has provided his congregations many opportunities to learn the Word of God through Bible study and his dedication to the Gospel ministry; and

Whereas, Pastor Heyward has had the joy of seeing people come into the kingdom of God and grow in their faith, worship attendance increase, church facilities expand, and his churches become spheres of influence through leadership for kingdom building; and

Whereas, because his purpose in the ministry has been to educate, equip, and empower people to fulfill their God-given destiny, his churches have seen the greatness of his life in the teaching of Jesus: "He that is greatest among you, let him be your servant"; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to honor this son of South Carolina at the celebration of his eightieth birthday, and the members join with his family and friends in congratulating him on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Pastor Robert Heyward, Sr., of Grace Chapel Baptist Church in Adams Run on the occasion of his eightieth birthday and wish him a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor Robert Heyward, Sr.
