A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE A.C. FLORA HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM FOR AN IMPRESSIVE SEASON AND TO CELEBRATE THE FALCONS CAPTURING OF THE 2017 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, on May 16, 2017, the A.C. Flora High School baseball team claimed its sixth state championship since 2001 with an 8-1 victory, powering past South Pointe to sweep the Class AAAA best-of-three series 2-0; and

Whereas, it was the fourth state title in the past six years for A.C. Flora. The Falcons (25-7) went undefeated in eight playoff games and outscored their opponents 73-18. The clinching victory was the first road game of the postseason, and the fitting season's end was a dogpile on the mound; and

Whereas, by the time the players had claimed their newest crown, Flora fans were already making plans to return next year to see their team repeat the feat; and

Whereas, demonstrating courage, drive, and pure heart, Flora turned in a marvelous performance of teamwork, keeping the excited crowd enthralled; and

Whereas, using his own considerable athletic training and skills, Coach Andy Hallett built his players into championship caliber and encouraged them not to settle for second best; and

Whereas, proud of these fine student athletes, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the recognition the A.C. Flora High School baseball players have brought to their school and community, and the members look to hear of many more victories for the school in coming seasons. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the A.C. Flora High School baseball team for an impressive season and celebrate the Falcons capturing of the 2017 Class AAAA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Richard McClure and Coach Andy Hallett of A.C. Flora High School.
