AN ACT
  relating to the recording of a criminal offense of transporting
  household goods without registration in a driving record.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 643.253, Transportation Code, is amended
  by adding Subsections (g) and (h) to read as follows:
         (g)  As soon as practicable after the date a person is
  convicted of an offense under Subsection (b), the convicting court
  shall notify the Department of Public Safety of the conviction.  The
  notice must be in a form prescribed by the Department of Public
  Safety and must contain the person's driver's license number.
         (h)  A conviction under Subsection (b) shall be recorded in
  the person's driving record maintained by the Department of Public
  Safety.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
  to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act.
  An offense committed before the effective date of this Act is
  governed by the law in effect on the date the offense was committed,
  and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For
  purposes of this section, an offense was committed before the
  effective date of this Act if any element of the offense was
  committed before that date.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
