relating to the form of a candidate's name on a ballot. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 52.031, Election Code, is amended by | ||
amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(a) A candidate's name shall be printed on the ballot with | ||
the given name or initials first, followed by a nickname, if any, | ||
followed by the surname, including any married name, in accordance | ||
with this section. | ||
(a-1) A person may use any surname acquired by law or | ||
marriage. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
