A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the form of a candidate's name on a ballot.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 52.031, Election Code, is amended by
  amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as
  follows:
         (a)  A candidate's name shall be printed on the ballot with
  the given name or initials first, followed by a nickname, if any,
  followed by the surname, including any married name, in accordance
  with this section.
         (a-1)  A person may use any surname acquired by law or
  marriage.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
