relating to a study on the suitability of unused and underused | ||
public facilities for joint use by state and local governmental | ||
entities. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. DEFINITIONS. In this Act: | ||
(1) "Governmental entity" means this state, a county, | ||
a municipality, or a school district. | ||
(2) "Public facility" means a facility owned or | ||
operated by a governmental entity. | ||
SECTION 2. STUDY AND REPORT. (a) The comptroller of public | ||
accounts shall conduct a study to assess the availability and | ||
suitability of existing unused and underused public facilities for | ||
joint use by two governmental entities. The study shall assess the | ||
economic advantages of that use. | ||
(b) Not later than December 1, 2020, the comptroller shall | ||
submit to the governor, lieutenant governor, speaker of the house | ||
of representatives, and members of the legislature a written report | ||
on the results of the study. | ||
SECTION 3. EXPIRATION DATE. This Act expires January 1, | ||
2021. | ||
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | ||
1, 2019. |
