A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to requiring public institutions of higher education to
  document and maintain information regarding the granting of certain
  undergraduate course credit to entering freshman students.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 51.968, Education Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (h) to read as follows:
         (h)  For purposes of evaluating the policy adopted under
  Subsection (b), an institution of higher education shall document
  and maintain information regarding each granting of undergraduate
  course credit under that policy for achieving a required score on an
  Advanced Placement examination, including:
               (1)  the subject of the examination;
               (2)  the score achieved on the examination; and
               (3)  the course for which credit was granted.
         SECTION 2.  Section 51.968(h), Education Code, as added by
  this Act, applies beginning with undergraduate course credit
  granted in the 2019-2020 academic year.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
