A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to certain suits filed against a governmental unit and an
  employee of the governmental unit.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 101.106(e), Civil Practice and Remedies
  Code, is amended to read as follows:
         (e)  If a suit is filed asserting a claim for which this
  chapter waives sovereign or governmental immunity [under this
  chapter] against both a governmental unit and any of its employees,
  the claim against the employee [employees] shall immediately be
  dismissed on the filing of a motion by the governmental unit.
         SECTION 2.  Section 101.106(e), Civil Practice and Remedies
  Code, as amended by this Act, applies only to an action filed on or
  after the effective date of this Act. An action that is filed
  before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law
  applicable to the action immediately before the effective date of
  this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
