A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the required notice of a patient's right to receive an
  estimate of certain health care services provided by a physician.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 101.352, Occupations Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
         (c-1)  A physician or physician group shall post a clear and
  conspicuous notice of a patient's right to receive an estimate of
  charges under Subsection (c):
               (1)  in at least one area of the physician's or group's
  office where patients are commonly present; and
               (2)  on the physician's or group's Internet website if
  the physician or group maintains an Internet website.
         SECTION 2.  (a)  The Health Professions Council may
  prescribe the form and content required for a notice under Section
  101.352(c-1), Occupations Code, as added by this Act.
         (b)  Notwithstanding Section 101.352(c-1), Occupations
  Code, as added by this Act, a physician or physician group is not
  required to comply with that section until December 1, 2019.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
