A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the duties of the Texas Veterans Commission regarding
  citizenship of veterans.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 434.026 to read as follows:
         Sec. 434.026.  CITIZENSHIP OF VETERAN. (a) The Texas
  Veterans Commission shall determine the citizenship status of a
  veteran in this state.
         (b)  If a veteran in this state is not a citizen of the United
  States, the commission shall assist the veteran in becoming a
  United States citizen and facilitate the naturalization process.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
