| relating to the duties of the Texas Veterans Commission regarding | ||
| citizenship of veterans. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 434.026 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 434.026. CITIZENSHIP OF VETERAN. (a) The Texas | ||
| Veterans Commission shall determine the citizenship status of a | ||
| veteran in this state. | ||
| (b) If a veteran in this state is not a citizen of the United | ||
| States, the commission shall assist the veteran in becoming a | ||
| United States citizen and facilitate the naturalization process. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
