relating to the authority of certain counties to use an alternate | ||
work period for county peace officers. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 157.021, Local Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
(c) This section does not limit the authority of the | ||
commissioners court of a county to adopt or enforce a work period of | ||
up to 28 days for peace officers employed by the county in | ||
accordance with the federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 | ||
U.S.C. Section 207). | ||
SECTION 2. Section 157.022, Local Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
(d) This section does not apply to a peace officer | ||
commissioned by a county that has adopted a work period of longer | ||
than seven days for those peace officers in accordance with the | ||
federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29 U.S.C. Section 207). | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
