| relating to open meetings of the governing body of a charter holder | ||
| and the governing body of an open-enrollment charter school. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 12.1051, Education Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
| (c) The governing body of a charter holder and the governing | ||
| body of an open-enrollment charter school shall: | ||
| (1) hold each open meeting within the geographical | ||
| area served by the school; and | ||
| (2) in the manner prescribed by Section 551.128, | ||
| Government Code, broadcast the open meeting over the Internet if | ||
| the school includes campuses that are located in noncontiguous | ||
| municipalities. | ||
| SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | ||
| an open meeting held on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
