BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 43.0751, Local Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (q-1) to read as follows: | ||
(q-1) Except as provided by this subsection, the qualified | ||
voters of a district any part of which is annexed for limited | ||
purposes under a strategic partnership agreement under this section | ||
are entitled to vote in municipal elections as provided by Section | ||
43.130. If the district includes area located in more than one | ||
municipality, a qualified voter of a district is not entitled to | ||
vote in municipal elections under this subsection if the voter is a | ||
resident of a municipality other than the municipality subject to | ||
the strategic partnership agreement. A resident of a district any | ||
part of which is annexed for limited purposes under this section is | ||
not eligible to be a candidate for or to be elected to a municipal | ||
office. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
