WHEREAS, On January 22, 1973, the majority of the members of | ||
the United States Supreme Court ruled, in Roe v. Wade, that abortion | ||
was a right secured by the U.S. Constitution; and | ||
WHEREAS, Since that fateful day, more than 58 million unborn | ||
children have perished; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
hereby designate January 22 as the Day of Tears and encourage the | ||
citizens of the Lone Star State to lower their flags to half-staff | ||
on that day; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section | ||
391.004(d), Government Code, this designation remain in effect | ||
until the 10th anniversary of the date that this resolution is | ||
finally passed by the legislature. |
