WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to | ||
a close with the passing of Pamela Lynn Munn of Lampasas on January | ||
9, 2019, at the age of 62; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born in Newport News, Virginia, on September 17, | ||
1956, Pam Munn grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Ron, | ||
Rick, Page, and Dusty; she moved with her family to Houston, and she | ||
graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1975, later earning | ||
a degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University; and | ||
WHEREAS, This distinguished Texan began her career in law | ||
enforcement as the first female officer to serve in the Huntsville | ||
Police Department, and she quickly moved up the ranks from patrol | ||
officer to detective and sergeant; she relocated to Austin in | ||
September 1985 to work as an investigator for the Medicaid Fraud | ||
Control Unit of the Texas Attorney General's Office, where her | ||
accomplishments included promotion to supervising investigator; in | ||
1997, she transferred to the Texas State Auditor's Office and | ||
worked with a Special Investigations Unit that dealt with financial | ||
crimes against the state; she was promoted to unit manager and | ||
served until her retirement in 2015; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Munn exchanged the vows of matrimony with her | ||
husband, Chris, in 1986, and they went on to share a rewarding | ||
family life with their three children, Jefferson, Cassandra, and | ||
Amber; in addition to spending time with her loved ones, she was | ||
active in the Lampasas community, volunteering with the local | ||
elections office and library fund-raisers and contributing to a | ||
number of programs and committees at the First United Methodist | ||
Church; she also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and participating in a | ||
local women's bowling league with her team, the Alley Cats; and | ||
WHEREAS, Pam Munn earned the admiration of all who knew her, | ||
not only for her dedication to public service but also for her | ||
exceptional kindness and generosity, and she leaves behind a legacy | ||
that will resonate in the Lampasas community for years to come; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Pamela Lynn Munn and | ||
extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and many friends; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pamela Lynn | ||
Munn. | ||
