| WHEREAS, William Jefferson Adcock Spain of Boy Scouts of | ||
| America Troop No. 511 in Houston has attained the rank of Eagle | ||
| Scout, and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor | ||
| bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting | ||
| movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, | ||
| Jeff Spain earned twice the required number of merit badges for a | ||
| total of 42; he also successfully completed an Eagle Scout project | ||
| that involved working with the Grimes County Historical Commission | ||
| to preserve a local cemetery; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding | ||
| leadership ability throughout his scouting career, serving as a | ||
| patrol leader, senior patrol leader, and outdoor ethics guide; | ||
| moreover, he has acted as the chaplain aide since 2015, performing | ||
| the benediction at weekly troop meetings and leading worship on | ||
| Sundays when the troop is away from home; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Spain's dedication to excellence and his | ||
| perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to | ||
| stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride | ||
| on a job well done; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate William Jefferson Adcock Spain on | ||
| achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Spain as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
