A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of a person to serve as the chief |
|
|
appraiser for an appraisal district. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 6, Tax Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 6.054 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 6.054. RESTRICTION ON EMPLOYMENT AS CHIEF APPRAISER. |
|
|
A person may not be employed as the chief appraiser for an appraisal |
|
|
district if the person is an elected or appointed officer of a |
|
|
taxing unit located wholly or partly in the appraisal district. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2020. |
