| relating to a study of the legalization of gambling in certain | ||
| communities. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Lottery Commission shall study: | ||
| (1) the legalization of gambling in historical | ||
| downtown areas of communities located not more than 20 miles from an | ||
| international border; and | ||
| (2) the potential impact the revenue from legalized | ||
| gambling and a tax on legalized gambling would have if used for the | ||
| restoration of historic buildings and infrastructure in an area | ||
| described by Subdivision (1). | ||
| (b) Not later than December 31, 2020, the Texas Lottery | ||
| Commission shall submit to the governor, the lieutenant governor, | ||
| and the speaker of the house of representatives a report on the | ||
| findings of the study. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
