A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a study of the legalization of gambling in certain
  communities.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  (a) The Texas Lottery Commission shall study:
               (1)  the legalization of gambling in historical
  downtown areas of communities located not more than 20 miles from an
  international border; and
               (2)  the potential impact the revenue from legalized
  gambling and a tax on legalized gambling would have if used for the
  restoration of historic buildings and infrastructure in an area
  described by Subdivision (1).
         (b)  Not later than December 31, 2020, the Texas Lottery
  Commission shall submit to the governor, the lieutenant governor,
  and the speaker of the house of representatives a report on the
  findings of the study.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
