A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the unlawful possession of a firearm by persons placed
  on deferred adjudication community supervision for certain felony
  offenses; creating a criminal offense.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 46.04, Penal Code, is amended by adding
  Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
         (a-1)  A person who has been placed on deferred adjudication
  community supervision for a felony listed in Article 42A.054(a),
  Code of Criminal Procedure, commits an offense if the person
  possesses a firearm during the person's period of supervision.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies to a
  person on deferred adjudication community supervision on or after
  the effective date of this Act, regardless of whether the person was
  placed on deferred adjudication community supervision before, on,
  or after the effective date of this Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
