| relating to an investigation unit within the Health and Human | ||
| Services Commission for certain unlicensed child-care facilities. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 531.0084 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 531.0084. INVESTIGATION UNIT FOR UNLICENSED | ||
| CHILD-CARE FACILITIES. (a) The executive commissioner shall | ||
| maintain a unit within the child-care licensing division of the | ||
| commission consisting of investigators whose primary | ||
| responsibility is to identify unlicensed child-care facilities and | ||
| to initiate appropriate enforcement actions against those | ||
| facilities. | ||
| (b) The executive commissioner shall assign at least 35 | ||
| full-time equivalent positions for the unit described by Subsection | ||
| (a). | ||
| SECTION 2. As soon as possible after the effective date of | ||
| this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human | ||
| Services Commission shall establish the investigation unit | ||
| required by Section 531.0084, Government Code, as added by this | ||
| Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
