| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Austin Saengerrunde Damenchor on the grand | ||
| occasion of the choral group's 60th anniversary; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Saengerrunde Damenchor was organized in 1959 | ||
| as part of the Austin Saengerrunde Club, a German singing club | ||
| known today as one of the oldest cultural organizations in | ||
| Austin; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Damenchor, or women's choir, was established | ||
| to help the club promote interest in the preservation of German | ||
| song; the choir gained recognition for hosting an annual | ||
| Christmas concert and for performing at the annual German Texan | ||
| Saengerfest of the Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund, an event | ||
| that continues to bring together German choirs from around the | ||
| state each year; and | ||
| WHEREAS, On May 5, 2019, the Austin Saengerrunde Club is | ||
| hosting the 73rd Saengertag of the Deutsch-Texanischer | ||
| Saengerbund at the club's historic Saengerrunde Halle; German | ||
| choirs in Texas will gather to showcase their exceptional talents | ||
| and to promote the preservation of German culture and language in | ||
| Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of the Saengerrunde Damenchor are part of | ||
| a proud history in Austin, and it is indeed fitting that their | ||
| beloved Saengerrunde Halle will serve as the venue for the annual | ||
| Saengerfest during the year that marks the choir's 60th | ||
| anniversary; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Austin | ||
| Saengerrunde Damenchor for 60 years of success in promoting | ||
| German culture and heritage in the Lone Star State and extend to | ||
| all best wishes for a memorable 73rd Saengertag of the | ||
| Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the choir as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
