HOUSE BILL NO. 1435 Offered January 16, 2018 A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 16.1-81.01, relating to initiation of a civil action; clerk of a general district court. ---------- Patron-- Tyler ---------- Referred to Committee for Courts of Justice ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 16.1-81.01 as follows:

§16.1-81.01. Initiation of a civil action; action by a general district court clerk.

Within 14 days of receipt of a pleading initiating any civil action in the general district court, including an action for garnishment, the clerk of such general district court shall file, process, and issue for service of process such pleading.
