Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 54.1-2973.2 as follows:

§54.1-2973.2. Frozen embryos; required disclosures.

A. For the purposes of this section, "embryo" means the same as that term is defined in §20-156.

B. Any health care facility that creates and stores frozen embryos created through assisted reproductive technology shall annually report to the Board: (i) the total number of embryos created; (ii) the number of embryos that remain frozen; (iii) the number of embryos donated to research institutions and institutions of higher education and the names of such institutions; and (iv) the number of embryos made available for adoption.
