A BILL to amend and reenact §22.1-291.1 of the Code of
Virginia, relating to planning time for public school teachers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §22.1-291.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§22.1-291.1. Planning time for teachers.
Each school board shall ensure that all each elementary school teachers, middle
school, and high school teacher in its employment are is
provided at least an average of 30 minutes one 45-minute period
per school day during
the students' school week as planning time that is unencumbered and otherwise uninterrupted, except in
the case of the emergency need for classroom support
or another emergency situation.
