HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 5028
Commending Harrison A. Glasgow.

WHEREAS, Harrison A. Glasgow was recently honored for his conservation work as a Conservationist of the Year by the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust; and

WHEREAS, a native of Chicago, Harrison "Harry" Glasgow attended Illinois Public Schools and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois before joining the United States Army and embarking on a career in intelligence work; and

WHEREAS, following his military service, Harry Glasgow worked as a civilian intelligence employee in Massachusetts before relocating to Virginia in 1989, where he held various intelligence positions in the United States Army and national agencies until his retirement in 2001; and

WHEREAS, in retirement, Harry Glasgow decided to dedicate his efforts to preserving and protecting the natural world through involvement in a wide array of local government agencies and nonprofit groups; and

WHEREAS, Harry Glasgow served for seven years on the Fairfax County Park Authority board, working with fellow board members and county officials to preserve the county's open space and ensure a positive experience for visitors; and

WHEREAS, Harry Glasgow continues to support the Fairfax County Park Authority in its initiatives as a member of the Fairfax County Park Foundation board; and

WHEREAS, Harry Glasgow has also volunteered with the Northern Virginia and Prince William Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services; and

WHEREAS, Harry Glasgow generously gives his time and talents to an array of other nonprofit groups that strive to support local parks and environmental causes; and

WHEREAS, a frequent visitor to Fairfax County parks, Harry Glasgow has a vast wealth of knowledge about the parks and the ecosystems contained in them, which he freely shares with others; and

WHEREAS, a model citizen and tireless advocate for the environment, Harry Glasgow has demonstrated the positive contributions that active citizens can make in their communities and has helped preserve and protect the environment for current and future generations to enjoy; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Harrison A. Glasgow on his selection as a Conservationist of the Year by the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Harrison A. Glasgow as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and admiration for his dedication to protecting the great natural resources of the Commonwealth.
