WHEREAS, the Freedom High School Soul Squad marching band was selected to perform in the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 16, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Thorogood directed the 50 members of the Freedom High School Soul Squad marching band as they marched in the 258th celebration of the St. Patrick's Day Parade; and

WHEREAS, the Freedom High School Soul Squad marching band was accompanied by Freedom High School's Black Diamond dance team and Golden Silk flag line; and

WHEREAS, the Freedom High School Soul Squad marching band performed five musical selections as they marched down Fifth Avenue and passed the grandstand review in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Freedom High School Soul Squad marching band hereby be commended for representing the Commonwealth at the 2019 New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Freedom High School Soul Squad marching band as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its commitment to excellence.
