HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 4026
Commending the Albemarle High School girls' soccer team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, July 9, 2019

 

WHEREAS, the Albemarle High School girls' soccer team earned its second state title in three seasons with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship in June 2019; and

WHEREAS, the Albemarle Patriots defeated the Deep Run High School Wildcats by a score of 4 - 1 in the state final, held at Hermitage High School; and

WHEREAS, while the Deep Run Wildcats struck first to take a 1 - 0 lead, Albemarle head coach Amy Sherrill, a health and physical education teacher who works hard to inspire her players both on and off the field, helped turn the game around with a rousing halftime speech; and

WHEREAS, the Albemarle Patriots dominated the second half, with goals from Kora Jillions and Savannah Alexander and a brace from Madeline St. Amand; and

WHEREAS, the Albemarle Patriots' victory is a testament to the dedication of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of the entire Albemarle High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Albemarle High School girls' soccer team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship in 2019; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Amy Sherrill, head coach of the Albemarle High School girls' soccer team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the future.
