WHEREAS, the Emory & Henry College football team, a decorated athletics program at one of the Commonwealth's oldest institutions of higher education, celebrates its 100th anniversary during the 2015 season; and

WHEREAS, established in 1915, the Emory & Henry College Wasps have competed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association for nearly 40 years; and

WHEREAS, during its 100-year history, the Emory & Henry College football team achieved an overall record of 513 - 418 - 19 and won 23 conference championships, including a record 11 ODAC championship titles; and

WHEREAS, the Emory & Henry College football team has also recorded many individual achievements, with eight student-athletes selected as ODAC Player of the Year, six coaches selected as ODAC Coach of the Year, 282 All-ODAC first team selections, and two players selected as ODAC Rookie of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Emory & Henry College football team has achieved recognition on the national level, with 76 players selected as All-Americans and three players picked in the National Football League Draft; and

WHEREAS, throughout August 2015, the Emory & Henry College football team will feature stories on its website detailing the history of the football team in 25-year intervals and giving viewers a look at key players and games from each era; and

WHEREAS, the Emory & Henry College football team's season opener on September 5, 2015, will be preceded by a ceremony to induct the latest class of the Emory & Henry College Hall of Fame, and celebrations will continue on September 19, 2015, with the 100th anniversary reunion; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Emory & Henry College football team hereby be commended on the occasion of the team's 100th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Curt Newsome, head coach of the Emory & Henry College football team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's numerous accomplishments in its storied history.
