HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 518
Commending the Carlisle School girls' basketball team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 11, 2018

 

WHEREAS, the Carlisle School girls' basketball team claimed its fourth consecutive state title in 2018, winning the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state championship in 2018; and

WHEREAS, the Carlisle School Chiefs defeated the Timberlake Christian High School Tornadoes by a score of 35 - 31 in the thrilling state final; and

WHEREAS, the teams exchanged leads throughout the game, until the Carlisle Chiefs went on a 12 - 2 run late in the fourth quarter to secure the win; senior Erika Carter led the team with 11 points; and

WHEREAS, the Carlisle Chiefs have been a dominant force in high school basketball for the past four years, winning each of their first three state championships by at least 20 points; and

WHEREAS, the Carlisle Chiefs' success is a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and dedication of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the entire Carlisle School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Carlisle School girls' basketball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state championship in 2018; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mancino Craighead, head coach of the Carlisle School girls' basketball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's exceptional achievements and best wishes for the future.
