A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section
numbered 18.2-12.2, relating to limitation on mandatory minimum punishment.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-12.2 as follows:
§18.2-12.2. Limitation on mandatory minimum punishment.
Any mandatory minimum, as defined in §18.2-12.1, shall not apply to any sentence imposed for an offense committed on or after January 1, 2021. For offenses committed on or after January 1, 2021, a court may suspend in full or in part any punishment imposed.
