WHEREAS, Catherine Worley, principal of Jamestown High School, was honored as the 2018 Outstanding High School Principal of the Year by the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals; and
WHEREAS, the Outstanding High School Principal of the Year award is presented to recognize exceptional school administrators such as Catherine "Cathy" Worley who exceed the high expectations of their profession and enable their students to succeed in and out of the classroom; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Radford University and Old Dominion University, Cathy Worley earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; over the course of her distinguished career in education, she has been a teacher in Newport News and a school administrator in Hampton and Charlottesville; and
WHEREAS, as principal of Jamestown High School since 2012, Cathy Worley has built strong relationships with faculty, staff, and members of the community through her collaborative, innovative leadership style; and
WHEREAS, Cathy Worley works diligently to enhance the learning environment at Jamestown High School, ensuring that all students have the tools and knowledge to achieve greatness in higher education and careers and become responsible citizens of the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Cathy Worley will accept the Outstanding High School Principal of the Year award at the 91st Annual Virginia Middle and High School Principals Conference and Exposition in June 2018 and will subsequently receive the state principal's ring at a ceremony in Richmond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Catherine Worley hereby be commended on her selection as 2018 Outstanding High School Principal of the Year; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Catherine Worley as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her commitment to academic excellence and hard work to support and inspire the students of Williamsburg and James City County.
