A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-9A-12a, relating to increasing basic state aid of school systems with low local resources per student; and providing for determination of adjustment.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
ARTICLE 9A. PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPPORT.
§18-9A-12a. Basic state aid adjustment for school systems with low local resources per student.
Notwithstanding §18-9A-12 of this code, the total basic state aid of a county shall be the county’s basic foundation program as determined in this article whenever the county’s allocated state aid share, following any adjustments to the county’s allocated state aid share provided in §18-9A-12 of this code applicable to the county, is 82% or more of the county’s basic foundation program.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to increase the basic state aid of county school systems to the county’s full basic foundation program amount if the county’s local share is 18% or less.
