AN ACT

 

establishing a Phoenix Sky Harbor international airport study committee.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport study committee; delayed repeal

A.  The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport study committee is established consisting of the following members:

1.  Two members of the senate who are members of different political parties and who are appointed by the president of the senate.

2.  Two members of the house of representatives who are members of different political parties and who are appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

3.  Three members of the public, one of whom is appointed by the governor, one of whom is appointed by the president of the senate and one of whom is appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

B.  The committee shall elect a chairperson.

C.  The committee shall study the future of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, including:

1.  The airport's ability to expand.

2.  The airport's ability to service a larger metropolitan area.

3.  The feasibility of having additional airports to relieve both air traffic and road traffic at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

4.  The impact of expanding the airport and regional hubs on the economy, including issues of access, efficiency and availability to commercial interests and the flying public.

D.  The committee shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives on or before November 1, 2015 and shall provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state.

E.  This section is repealed from and after September 30, 2016.
