A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Supporting the Preservation of the Mountain View Black Officers Club.

Whereas, the Mountain View Black Officers Club, also known as building 66050, is a historical landmark; and
Whereas, the Southwest Association of Buffalo Soldiers is working to preserve the Mountain View Black Officers Club on Fort Huachuca; and
Whereas, the Association plans to renovate the Black Officers Club building and turn it into a research center on African-American military history from 1866 to the Korean War; and
Whereas, building 66050 has been deemed eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places under Criteria A, association with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history, as defined in Title 39, Part 60 of the Code of Federal Regulations; and
Whereas, Cochise County and the City of Sierra Vista, with the support of its citizens, have expressed support for the Club's preservation and restoration.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring:
1. That the Members of the Legislature join Cochise County and the City of Sierra Vista in supporting the efforts of the Southwest Association of Buffalo Soldiers to preserve the Mountain View Black Officers Club.
2. That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit copies of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors of Cochise County, the Mayor and council members of the City of Sierra Vista and the President of the Southwest Association of Buffalo Soldiers.
