An act to amend Section 54000 of the Education Code, relating to educational programs.

AB 2756, as introduced, Kiley. Instruction and services: programs for disadvantaged pupils.
Existing law expresses the intent of the Legislature to provide quality educational opportunities for all children in the public schools. Existing law provides that the Legislature recognizes that a wide variety of factors, including low family income, have a direct impact on a child’s success in school and personal development and require different levels of financial assistance be provided to school districts, as provided.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 54000 of the Education Code is amended to read:

54000.
 It is the intent of the Legislature to provide quality educational opportunities for all children in the public schools. The Legislature recognizes that a wide variety of factors such as low family income, pupil transiency rates, and large numbers of homes where in which a primary language other than English is spoken have a direct impact on a child’s success in school and personal development, and require that different levels of financial assistance be provided to school districts in order to assure ensure a quality level of education for all pupils.
