	BILL TEXT

INTRODUCED BY Senator Galgiani

                        FEBRUARY 19, 2016

An act to amend Section 1695 of the Health and Safety Code,
relating to public health.

	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 1392, as introduced, Galgiani. Public health: neonatal group B
streptococcal disease.
Existing law creates in the California Health and Human Services
Agency the State Department of Health Care Services, which is vested
with specified powers of the former State Department of Health
Services. Existing law required the State Department of Health
Services, to the extent that funds were available in the department's
budget for the 1994-95 fiscal year for this purpose, to convene a
consensus conference to address the issue of testing or treatment to
prevent neonatal group B streptococcal disease (chemoprophylaxis).
Existing law required the State Department of Health Services to make
every effort to obtain appropriate federal funds for this purpose if
the department determined that state funds were not available.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to the
consensus conference provision described above.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
