AN ACT ENSURING THAT LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS FULLY COOPERATE WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAW.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That: (1) Section 54-192h of the general statutes be repealed; and (2) the general statutes be amended to (A) prohibit any local or state government official from interfering with or impeding the ability of state or federal law enforcement personnel from carrying out their respective duties as relates to the enforcement of federal immigration law, (B) establish a process that allows a person to file a complaint if a state or local government official interferes with the enforcement of federal immigration law, (C) establish penalties for a state or local government official who interferes with the enforcement of federal immigration law, and (D) establish a civil cause of action that may be brought against a state or local government official who interferes with the enforcement of federal immigration law.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure that local and state officials are fully cooperating with law enforcement personnel in the enforcement of federal immigration law.
