AN ACT CONCERNING SCREENING PROTOCOLS FOR URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective October 1, 2014) Not later than October 1, 2014, the Commissioner of Public Health shall (1) establish protocols to be implemented by each nursing home, as defined in section 19a-490 of the general statutes, to detect the presence of urinary tract infections in its residents, and (2) post notice of such protocols on its Internet web site.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To require the Department of Public Health to establish protocols to detect the presence of urinary tract infections in nursing home residents.
