AN ACT EXEMPTING STUDENT AND PARENTAL DIRECTORY INFORMATION FROM DISCLOSURE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 14 of the general statutes be amended to exempt directory information of parents and students from disclosure to third parties unless (1) the parent or guardian of the student has expressly consented to such disclosure, or (2) the board of education has determined such disclosure to be in the educational interests of the school district and consistent with the board of education's obligations under federal and state law.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect the privacy and safety of parents and students.
