AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF FINANCE FOR A MUNICIPALITY TO MAKE CHANGES TO A PROPOSED EDUCATION BUDGET.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That, notwithstanding any provision of the general statutes or any special act, municipal charter, home rule ordinance or other ordinance, the board of finance in each town having a board of finance, the board of selectman in each town having no board of finance or the authority making appropriations for the school district for each town shall be authorized to make reductions to any proposed budget submitted by the local board of education, and that the chief elected official of the district shall be a voting member of the local board of education.
Statement of Purpose:
To authorize the board of finance for a town to make changes to any proposed budget submitted by the local board of education and to require that the chief elected official of the district be a voting member on the local board of education.
