AN ACT CONCERNING THE PREVENTION OF DEATHS FROM DRUG OVERDOSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to provide that any person who in good faith requests emergency medical assistance on behalf of another person experiencing a drug overdose, or any person who in good faith administers the prescription drug naloxone to a person experiencing an opiate-related overdose, shall be immune from prosecution for the possession of a controlled substance in violation of section 21a-279 of the general statutes or the possession of drug paraphernalia in violation of section 21a-267 of the general statutes if evidence of such violation was obtained as a result of such request or administration.
Statement of Purpose:
To prevent deaths due to drug overdoses by encouraging the making of emergency calls summoning medical assistance.
