AN ACT PROHIBITING THE OFFERING OF SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS AT HOTELS, MOTELS OR SIMILAR LODGINGS AT AN HOURLY RATE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that (1) no operator of a hotel, motel or similar lodging shall offer an hourly rate for any sleeping accommodation maintained by such hotel, motel or similar lodging, and (2) the operator of a hotel, motel or similar lodging shall require that a person procuring any sleeping accommodation at such hotel, motel or similar lodging shall, at the time of occupancy of the sleeping accommodation, provide positive proof of identification to the operator.

Statement of Purpose:

To protect victims of sex trafficking and enhance the ability of law enforcement personnel to apprehend and prosecute individuals who promote sex trafficking.
