AN ACT CONCERNING A PHASE-IN OF THE DATE ON WHICH A CHILD MUST TURN FIVE YEARS OLD IN ORDER TO ENROLL IN KINDERGARTEN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-15c of the general statutes be amended to require that any child enrolled in kindergarten reach age five on or before (1) December first for the school year commencing July 1, 2013, (2) November first for the school year commencing July 1, 2014, (3) October first for the school year commencing July 1, 2015, and (4) September first for the school year commencing July 1, 2016.

Statement of Purpose:

To phase in the cut-off date for when a child must turn five years of age in order to enroll in kindergarten for such school year.
