BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 3 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to local boards of education, so as to prohibit local board
of education members from being employed by the local school system for a period
of one year; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
3 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to local boards of education, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as
follows:
"20-2-72.
On
and after July 1, 2010, no local board of education member shall accept
employment or be employed in the local school system by such local board for a
period of one year from the time such person ceases to hold such elective office
as a board member."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
