A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Code Section 20-2-771 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to immunization of students in elementary and secondary education, so as to provide that a parent or guardian of a child may exempt his or her child from immunization on any grounds; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 20-2-771 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to immunization of students in elementary and secondary education, is amended by revising subsection (e) as follows:
"(e) This Code section shall not apply to a child whose parent or legal guardian objects to immunization of the child on the grounds that the immunization conflicts with the religious beliefs of the parent or guardian or any other grounds; however, the immunization may be required in cases when such disease is in epidemic stages. For a child to be exempt from immunization on religious grounds or any other grounds, the parent or guardian must first furnish the responsible official of the school or facility an affidavit in which the parent or guardian swears or affirms that the immunization required conflicts with the religious or other beliefs of the parent or guardian."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
