A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Code Section 42-1-12 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to registration of sexual offenders, so as to revise certain provisions relating to information provided by the Department of Education to schools on accessing the registry; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 42-1-12 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to registration of sexual offenders, is amended by revising paragraph (1) of subsection (l) as follows:
"(l)(1) On at least an annual basis, the Department of Education shall obtain from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation a complete list of the names and addresses of all registered sexual offenders and shall send such list provide access to such information, accompanied by a hold harmless provision, to each school in this state. In addition, the Department of Education shall provide information to each school in this state on accessing and retrieving from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's website a list of the names and addresses of all registered sexual offenders."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
