A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Wayne Bradshaw; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Wayne Bradshaw on February 8, 2011, at the age of 67 while doing something he loved, hiking with members of the Northeast Georgia Hiking Club; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Bradshaw was a family man who had a passion for both football and hiking; and

WHEREAS, he treated everyone he came in contact with like a friend and touched the lives of many; and

WHEREAS, on the gridiron, he was one of the most detail-oriented coaches and taught his players lessons that went far beyond the game of football; and

WHEREAS, for 26 years, he was head coach at Morgan County and East Hall, compiling a record of 171-111-3, and led the Vikings to an 85-59 record and eight playoff appearances, and he was named The Times All-Area Coach of the Year in 1993; and

WHEREAS, he was a charter member of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association, served on the Hall of Fame Committee, and in 2000 was awarded the Bobby Gruhn Lifetime Achievement Award; and

WHEREAS, he coached his sons, Joe and Bo Bradshaw, and his sons-in-law, Kerry Kidd and Chris Raines; and

WHEREAS, he was known as a great coach, a better dad, and outstanding friend; and
WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Wayne Bradshaw will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and hiking and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Wayne Bradshaw and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Wayne Bradshaw.
