RESOLUTION
Recognizing
January 23, 2012, as Effingham County Day at the Capitol; saluting the Effingham
County Chamber of Commerce; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
for a number of years Effingham County has sponsored Effingham County Day at the
Georgia State Capitol, sending a delegation to visit with and entertain members
of the General Assembly and others at the Capitol; and
WHEREAS,
Effingham County borders on the Savannah River, includes three incorporated
municipalities, Rincon, Springfield, and Guyton, and several smaller
communities, such as Meldrim, Faulkville, Pineora, Stillwell, Egypt, Clyo,
Ebenezer, and Shawnee, and is widely recognized for its outstanding quality of
life; and
WHEREAS,
Effingham County Day will again be observed on January 23, 2012, under the
sponsorship of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce and its President, Mr.
Randy Shearouse; and
WHEREAS,
the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1986 to support existing
businesses and attract new firms to the thriving business climate in the county;
and
WHEREAS,
one of the oldest settlements in Georgia, Effingham County was created from the
parishes of St. Matthew and St. Phillip, the fourth of the original eight
counties to be established in 1777; and
WHEREAS,
the Chamber today boasts 320 members from a wide variety of businesses and
contributes greatly to the community and the State of Georgia through its work
of "Bringing People and Opportunities Together."
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body does
hereby recognize January 23, 2012, as Effingham County Day at the Capitol and
extend to the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce its commendation for the
Chamber's many important contributions to the Effingham County community and the
State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ricky Lott,
Director of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, and Brooks Graham,
President of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce.
