A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the 2011 Women in Municipal Government Leadership Award Winner, Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Women in Municipal Government Leadership Award recognizes a female local official for unique and outstanding leadership in local government on a national level; and

WHEREAS, the winner of the award is recognized for individual achievement in initiating creative and successful programs in local government which help citizens, particularly if the leadership serves as a specific mentoring model for future female leaders; and

WHEREAS, the award promotes the increased representation of women in local government and is designed to encourage more women to run for elected municipal office; and

WHEREAS, Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her superlative service in Barrow County; and

WHEREAS, she has been an honest and dedicated public servant who strives for excellence in all her endeavors and whose primary concern has been her community and the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger for her effective, efficient, and selfless leadership and public service to the citizens of Barrow County and recognize her for winning the 2011 Women in Municipal Government Leadership Award.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger.
