A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Charlotte McCauley; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Charlotte McCauley has been selected as a 2012 Top Youth Volunteer in Georgia in the 17th annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and

WHEREAS, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards were created in 1995 by Prudential Financial, in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and are designed to emphasize the importance this nation places on service to others and to encourage all young Americans to contribute to their communities; and

WHEREAS, Charlotte, a sophomore at North Atlanta High School, has organized a project that has donated 12,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to troops in the Middle East for the past two years; and

WHEREAS, a Girl Scout since the age of six, she worked with Girl Scout leaders in her service unit to approve and promote the project, produced a how-to video, rallied more than 1,300 Girl Scouts to support the project, and secured low-cost shipping for it; and

WHEREAS, the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable young woman serve as a shining example of contributing to the community, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have Charlotte McCauley as a citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Charlotte McCauley on her volunteer efforts and contributions and congratulate her for being selected as a 2012 Top Youth Volunteer in Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Charlotte McCauley.
