RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Coosa High School cheerleading squad on their exceptional
performance in the 2011 GHSA Class AA State Cheerleading Championship; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
through perseverance and iron determination, the Coosa cheerleading squad took
home the GHSA Class AA State Cheerleading Championship in 2008 and tied for
first place against Calhoun in 2011, but were named second place when the GHSA's
tie-breaking formula was applied; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the squad, including Alexia Burns, Triston Casteel,
Alex Cescutti, Taylor Chambers, Emily Duggan, Leah Early, Savannah Gay, Shannah
Hammons, Debresha Haselrig, Caroline Hubbard, Paige Levesque, Charity McFather,
Talyn Murphy, Josie Perry, Caroline Shepherd, Raegan Warren, and seniors Maggie
Brewer, Christy Chastain, Raven Davis, Jana Hubbard, Rebecca LaRue, and Harleigh
Turner and the astute direction of Head Coach Beth Nichols and Coach Craig Bing;
and
WHEREAS,
they start their season at an invitation only cheerleading camp at the
University of West Georgia where they work on stunts, tumbling, jumps, dance,
and cheers for two hard days followed by two days with a choreographer, and
practice the routine until it is perfected throughout the entire season;
and
WHEREAS,
they finished in first place for four out of five of their competitions in 2011;
and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Coosa High School cheerleading squad for their
exceptional performance in the 2011 GHSA Class AA State Cheerleading
Championship and extend their sincerest best wishes for future
success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Coosa
High School cheerleading squad.
